ASTM D6319 covers certain requirements for nitrile rubber gloves used in medical applications. Standard specifies various test methods including sterility testing, physical dimensions testing, physical requirements testing, powder residue, and powder limit testing. This page covers physical requirement tests to determine the tensile strength and the ultimate elongation of medical glove samples.

Note that there are slight variations depending on the type of sample selected.
- Prepare samples as described in the standard. ASTM D412 Die C is recommended for sample size to run physical requirements testing.
- Glove samples should be aged in accordance with ASTM D573.
- Mount samples in the tensile grips.
- Apply tensile force to determine the tensile strength and ultimate elongation.
- Refer to Table 3 in the standard to ensure the tensile strength and ultimate elongation values are not less than specified.
